Friday Night Lights

I forgot to order you all to watch Friday Night Lights two weeks in a row, but I am now.  If you haven’t seen this show yet, there are three more episodes coming up.

As I’ve said before, there’s not a single story line or character I don’t want to see.  Even the villianous Buddy Garrity is too good not want to see him on screen.

The loquacious, self-centered Smash shines sweetly as he supports his mentally ill girlfriend, Waverly.  Nerdy Landry lands the hot girl with his brains and humor, and my oh, don’t get me started on Matt and Tim.

AND in such a male centered show, the writers are smart enough to let Trya defend herself from a rapist without the help of a man…love it.  Coach Taylor and his wife Tami, their daughter Julie–I’ve rambled about the charm of this family before.  You must watch so to shut me up.

The writing, the acting, the subtle humor, sometimes, a character’s expression and zero yapping is all there is.  It’s perfect.  And when something is overt–Lila dousing her paralyzed boyfriend, Jason, with the glass of water–you know there’s a good reason for it.  This show is the single best thing on TV.

I’m not making a good case, but seriously, try it, just once.  You won’t be disppointed.  Next week, Wednesday at 8:00 pm

  1. Hey, I don’t mean to sound like I just crawled out from under a rock, but does a show called “Friday Night Lights” really air on Wednesdays? Does that make sense to anyone? I’d rather watch it on Fridays when the kids don’t have homework or soccer games. Hmm.

  2. I know, it does seem weird to have it on Wed. nights, but alas, there it is. I guess Friday nights are notoriously bad for ratings…But they always show reruns in the summer so you should be able to catch it then.
