This is the lovely female bird who thrusts herself into my bathroom window every few moments, protecting her territory from the bird that lives in the reflection of the glass…somehow it all seems familiar.

I’ve got a couple of these glass-tappers too! Last year they went wild at one window, throwing themselves against it time after time, really going for broke. (I spilled my coffee at least once when they caught me off guard.) Someone told me that they do this when a new house has been built in an area they used to live in. This I would certainly understand, but our house has been in the same place since 1852.
