Bookshelves

Bookshelves

Bookshelves, originally uploaded by kathieshoop.

My new blog template and title has been in use for about two weeks now…so, I wanted to explain some of its new elements.

First, the background of the blog is actually a blurred photo of this bookcase–one that my grandfather had in college. I don’t know why it intrigued me for all these years, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to finally put it to use.

Second, if you need a new blog design be sure to contact Cindy or Anthony at BigBigdesign as they (Cindy designed Housewifecafe, too) are the world’s best web-designers. Cindy’s great at helping me figure out what I want the blog to convey and how that is communicated in the bloggy world.

Cindy is never too busy to answer my frantic "I can’t figure this out," emails and if she isn’t really patient, her emails never reveal her frustration with my limited computer skill–same goes for Anthony.  I’ve gotten so many compliments on the new design and will pass them along to both.

Thanks so much to everyone (all my cohorts and readers) for sticking around as I took a break from blogging and figured out exactly what I wanted the blog-process to look like for me.

  1. We had a bookshelf like that in our house, filled with musty old classics with old-fashioned covers. I remember lying on my back, leaning up against it and reading Dickens.

I wish Cindy could help me figure out why I can’t post on four WordPress blogs: your blog, Sam’s blog, Kate’s blog and Riley’s blog — but I CAN post on Debra’s blog which also happens to be WordPress! I can’t figure it out.

Okay, let’s give this a go and see… For a while there, I thought it might be because of the ‘sell’ in my name, but no — I tried a different e-mail address without the ‘sell’ in it and that didn’t work either…

  2. Kathie, your blog facade is my absolute favorite! Love the story behind the bookshelf, too. I’d be curious to hear about a couple of sample titles your grandfather collected.

As for Cynthia and BigBigdesign, I can’t send enough praise their way! They designed my websites as well as those of several clients and friends. Anytime I am interested in adding a new feature, Cynthia’s answer is always the same: “We can do that.” They’re magnificent!

    Good luck, Kathie!

  3. Judy, glad you like the new set up and backdrop for the blog! I def. needed a change. I’ll have to take a magnifying glass to the photo and check out the titles. I have a feeling they’re mostly dental school textbooks, but there may be a surprise or two in there…

  4. I LOVE it Kathie! The best part is the wonderful photo of you. It’s been a long while since I’ve seen that pretty smile. Glad to see that you’re blog is still up and running. Take care – I’d love to hear from you!

  5. Yay — I can WordPress again!

What happened, I wonder? Did someone fix it for me? I’ve just gone around to other WordPress blogs and all of them accept me! First time in months!
