Hi Holly,
I agree, dealing with all the outside forces and the inside ones that make girls do things that make their parents cringe is hard. And though I post about celeb news and all the "things" young girls are up to, I know my daughter will most likely include some of these dramatics into her growing up years.

All I can say is I'm glad there was no youtube and blogging to chronicle my adolescent/early adulthood years. As a matter of fact, last Thanksgiving two of my siblings announced that when I was in college, some of my dresses/skirts were slutty. Maybe so, but I had the bod for it, then. And funny thing is, my older brother, the conservative, fatherly one disagreed with them! So much of this is not controlled by parents and we just have to hope our kids err on the side of "not so bad." But it's interesting the way everyone views these topics. You must get an eyeful in LA, an interesting one at the very least...

Hi all,

Living in Hollywood and with a husband in the movie industry (artistic role, NOT advertising role!!!), I am amazed at the stuff that young girls do, as well as many other publicity stunts urged by the industry.

It must be so, so hard to have teenage daughters in this day and age. As a former schoolteacher, I was shocked every day at the clothing I would see on high school girls! Many of their parents would get called and would also have NO idea the girls had changed clothes when they got to school. It's overwhelming and sad to think about the outside influences families have to grapple with...

But on the upside, despite stuff like this, I know many parents who are doing a great job and overcoming these influences by just being awesome and diligent role models though. I SO ADMIRE THEM!!!!

That's exactly, what I thought Lisa C. no one is spotless!!! And striving to makes us nuts...just keep it all in balance. The more I think about the photos--the one with her dad is coming to mind. Not because that one bothers me--it just cracks me up. LIke if he was a guy in our neighborhood, wouldn't you have to poke fun at him, to his face of course? Seriously, his pose in that photo is hysterical and I'd have to point that out...

Good point about the models. I am totally bored with this whole thing too, BUT as a parent of a 5 year old girl, I was just disappointed that these photos were even published. Hannah Montana is one of the only shows on Disney Ilet my kids watch because she is a talented, strong role model for girls. Even her cd is tasteful (no swearing, etc...) and speaks to youngsters about being strong, no body is perfect, etc... Kate loves her (we just had a Hannah Montana party for her birthday-I know, crazy!!!), and I just wish that she was spotless (hopefully she won't end up like Lindsay Lohan). BUT nobody is spotless!

Yes, Becky, that did cross my mind, the whole "It's the way we view it," angle. I'm part of the cycle of smut.

Anti-wife, I yearn for your boredom with it all. I'll be there someday, I'm sure!

Yawn! That's how all these celebrities affect me. The problem is the press jumps on the story and the public buys into it like lemings going over the cliff. Stir the pot!

But it's sexualizing the kidssssss!

Bah...your reaction to it is sexualizing the kiddies, righto. If you didn't give it the time of day there isn't anything sexual about it.
